Interrogation sur mon identité culturelle, mes origines et mes traditions. La poutine ou le riz ? L'individualité ou la famille ? Superstitions ou sciences ? Médecine naturelle ou occidental ? En d'autres termes, mes douces moitiés qui me définissent : le Québec et l'Indonésie pour ceux qui y voient une importance d'y voir une dissemblance. Deux entités présentes et pourtant ne faisant qu’une seule matière. Joignant le même air et sol qui nous départage, nous les humains. Un parcours, une marche, une traversée s’est vue naître – soulignant les quatre éléments fondamentaux de la vie – terre, air, feu, eau - qui sont ici représentés par les papier fin de couleurs. Tentant, entre autres, de dépeindre les drapeaux de prières bouddhiste. Le papier en général a aussi toujours été un médium de communication de base et pour témoigner l’histoire de l’humanité.

Le sujet de mon projet fait, entre autres, allusions aux marionnettes Wayang en Indonésie - patrimoine de l’UNESCO. Où les villages peuplés de gens qui ont immigrés à Java - originairement - de divers pays mettent en scène des jeux d’ombres derrière un drap ou une peau d’animal afin de raconter une histoire, une morale ou de partager leurs diverses cultures et traditions qui les ont unis malgré leurs ''différences''.

Questioning my cultural identity, my origins and my traditions. Poutine or rice? Individuality or family? Superstitions or science? Natural medicine or western medicine? In other words, my sweet halves that define me: Quebec and Indonesia for those who see the importance of seeing a dissimilarity there. Two entities present and yet being one. Joining the same air and ground that separates us, we humans. A path, a walk, a crossing was born - underlining the four fundamental elements of life - earth, air, fire, water - which are represented here by the fine paper colors. Attempting, among other things, to depict the Buddhist prayer flags. Paper in general has also always been a basic medium of communication and to witness the history of humanity.

The subject of my project alludes, among other things, to the Wayang puppets in Indonesia - a UNESCO heritage site. Where villages populated by people who immigrated to Java - originally - from various countries stage shadow plays behind a sheet or an animal skin in order to tell a story, a moral or to share their various cultures and traditions that united them despite their "differences".
